The Ohlone Elementary PTA invites you to a parent education talk by Richard Freed, Ph.D., who will speak on the surprising science of raising happy and successful children in a digital age. While technology has ushered in dramatic changes to our lives, research is revealing that the foundation of our children’s well-being remains their connection to family and school. This talk will help you build a strong family and foster children’s school success amid a myriad of distractions. You’ll also see how to encourage kids to use technology as a positive force for their future.

This thought-provoking presentation will cover:

• Technology’s impact on the family

• The question of whether technology is addictive

• How entertainment technologies affect kids’ success

• Who better understands technology: parents or children, and

• How to help kids use technology productively

Dr. Freed (RichardFreed.com) is a Gunn High School graduate, child and adolescent psychologist, contributor to the Huffington Post, and author of the recent book, Wired Child: Reclaiming Childhood in a Digital Age. He lives in Walnut Creek, California with his wife and two daughters.
